oh, that's the turbo....nevermind:wtf2:

On a more serious note OP there are a lot of noises specific to the VQ platform going on under that hood. I would not automatically assume there is something seriously wrong with it. It is runs, acts normal and they don't find anything you might just be alright.

I understand VQ generates specific noises but this one suddenly appeared.. that's why i'm concerned about... and if you hear it, then you would definitely notice this noise isn't normal

Sounds like you have HFC's. I have them as well and it sounds the same. The hiss is indigenous to HFC's.

:iagree:

It's the biggest thing I miss about going to the turbo. That noise is fantastic!

Thank you gentlemen, I do indeed have FI HFCs on the car.

I have a 2010 and it whines all the time (electrical sounding). You can hear it when the stereo is off and when you turn the car off. I think it's mostly the fuel pump when car is off cause it's louder than at start up. I haven't had any issues and the car is pushing 34K. I've gotten use to it and don't notice it because of boost and my exhaust system!

I have a Nissan X-terra that has a 3.5 litre engine. I believe it's the same engine they put in the 350Z. At about 20k miles it started to whine as the engine RPM increased. You could actually hear it go up and down with the RPMs. One of my friends said it sounded like it was coming from the front of the engine. Turns out the timing chain guides were defective and had to be replaced. There was a TSB put out by NIssan, but car owners weren't informed. I was told it didn't affect enough owners. They reapired it under warranty.

Alright, I have now heard the whine noise in my cabin, it took me a while to separate it from my bad tinnitus!

Okay.. here is an update. I went to my Nissan dealership about 2 weeks ago and tech stated my manual transmission need to be replaced.. Part has been ordered yesterday and yes, it's being covered under warranty. It took 2 weeks to Nissan Warranty Dpet to approve lol. My technician had to fight back and forth with them.

The bad news is Nissan does not provide rental cars and my insurance won't provide rental cars cuz it's not caused from accident lol wtf.. I kinda need to fight this with my insurance compaby..

Thought the noise was from engine but it's actually from trasmission LMAO I must be deaf
