Default 1st to 2nd gear hard to shift..

Hey guys so recently ive been having some issues shifting from 1st to 2nd. Its like when I shift its a grind and a clunk gettin into 2nd . When im not driving and jus put the clutch in to move gears around..its smooth. ..like super smooth but the moment I start driving its hard to get into 2nd....my car has 20k miles on it. Trans fluid recommends change at 30..

..............try not to shift at low rpms from 1st to second, try shifting at 3500 and hold the clutch in longer after you shift this will take care of ur problem 100%

I can attest to this as well. I even took it to the dealer. its just getting used to the feel of the tranny.

You can try a couple simple mods that help too. I replaced my stock tranny fluid with Redline MT85 & I installed a weighted shift knob. Easy mods and my shift from 1-2 is much improved. Agreed on the technique as well. Another thing to try when shifting at low RPM from 1-2 is to make the shift very slowly. I use this technique until my oil warms up and then after that I shift at 3500.

+1 on all those points.

cold 1-2 shift was hard even on 07-08 350z HR's

redline mt85 2 quart and amsoil syncromesh 2 quarts makes it feel like butter even when cold

shift at 3500

I had this problem myself. Any fast shifting would grind into 2nd, no matter how long I held the clutch in. I found the issue was w/ my shifting style.

Replacing the stock fluid may help.

It may be the way I shift but I never had this issue before the NST SSK so I guess I have to wait till next weekend but besides that what else could it be

Depends on how fast you're shifting, but it sounds like a worn synchro issue to me.
