Agreed on the technique as well. Another thing to try when shifting at low RPM from 1-2 is to make the shift very slowly. I use this technique until my oil warms up and then after that I shift at 3500.

+1 on all those points.

cold 1-2 shift was hard even on 07-08 350z HR's

redline mt85 2 quart and amsoil syncromesh 2 quarts makes it feel like butter even when cold

shift at 3500
