Default VVEL information?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there is much information on the VVEL system, its limits and tuning potential on the VQ37HR engine? I can really only find articles saying what it is not experiences with it or how far it can be pushed as if it is truely everything they say it is then it should be quite interesting to see what tuners do with it. As most of you will know the exhaust cam does not feature the VVEL system but not that often is the exhaust cam a huge bottle neck not to mention you will only have to buy two cams if you feel the need to upgrade rather than the usualy 4.

Discuss?

You won't probably won't find too much information on the limits as not many people have pushed the engine very far. GTM has a G that is running a good amount of power and as such they may have some decent info. Other than that there isn't too much available.

I been trying to find this info myself. No luck
Also been trying to find out about the 7a/t. Would like to know its maximum horsepower threshhold. Also, would like to kno if there will be upgrade parts for the 7a/t tranny.

There are upgrades for pretty much every auto in a sports car eventually so just like the VVEL I guess we will have to wait and see. I would imagine the 7AT should be fine with at least 400hp so unless your going crazy turbo I wouldn't imagine that it would fall apart.

I'm so keen to find out info on VVEL because from the stuff I have read it should give you the good economy and idle of a std or short lift and duration cam but the huge peak power and torque of a chunky as cam that couldn't idle below like 2000 haha and everything in between, all depends how much lift and duration you can get out of it. If it is as good as it sounds then this engine will be a huge step forward not to mention should be good for some easy free power once they figure out its limits and how to tune it well. Intake, headers, exhaust and tune should be enough to really get some nice results out of it though the exhaust cam might be a little bit of an issue to get the most out of the VVEL.
