Default Factory Coolant Gauge Readings

Below is the "wonderful" factory gauge we are given which has zero real information. Yesterday I decided to figure out what the information is.

The blue area range is 0°F to 228°F
The orange area range is 228°F to the end

Individual dot ranges:
  1. 0-132°F
  2. 132-138°F
  3. 138-143°F
  4. 143-149°F
  5. 149-152°F
  6. 152-158°F
  7. 158-222°F
  8. 222-228°F

Most cars will spend there time on dot 7 when warmed up, and also why it looks like the gauge never moves because it is such a huge area. I would estimate that once you get to dot 8 or 9 it returns back to being 5-6°F differences between dots but it might be less. I was not able to go above 228°F yesterday.
