Problems starting 2011
Hi guys, I have had my 370z for about a year now and sometimes I have a hard time starting it. I was wondering if maybe I am experiencing the steering wheel lock problem but reading about that it doesn't seem to affect 2011 models. Maybe I just don't know how to start it.
Sometimes when I push the start button it just goes to accessory mode, push it again and it goes to run mode but doesn't start. I am very hard of hearing so I can't hear if the steering wheel lock is running or not. If I just keep mashing the start button it will start, so far. If anyone can shed some light or tell me what I am doing wrong I would appreciate it. Mike in NH. |
Pull the fuse for the lock!

If you are not pressing on the brake, then the accessory mode and run mode would appear |
Thanks for the answers. If I can turn the steering wheel while it won't start does that mean that it is not the steering wheel lock thing? Does the steering wheel lock problem affect some 2011s?

Check the clutch switch for manuals and the brake switch for Automatics....
well documented fault. http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...ring-lock.html |
Do the rpms go up but then the car doesn't finish starting up? If so, apply a little gas. I had this randomly a while back. It even says so in the manual.

No the starter won't turn over. I am pretty sure from this thread that the clutch switch is at fault. The next time it happens I'll pump the clutch a few times and see if that helps. And I'll test the switch.
