Clutch not disengaging, Help!!
Hi guys!
Took the car for a trip to another city, drove around there and came back and everything was good. Got in the car again after maybe half an hour or so and then parked it in the driveway in reverse (it's at a bit of an incline). A few hours later I started the car and now it won't get into gear. It gets into gear when off but with slight difficulty. I also noticed that the clutch chatter doesn't seem to go away the way it used to when the clutch is pressed in. I thought maybe it's the CSC but the symptoms seem slightly different, the clutch did not sink to the floor at any point and feels normal. Anyone experienced anything like this or know what it might be? Crapping myself as I don't know a whole lot about this stuff and the 5yr power train warranty ended in march. Probably worth noting here the car has an RJM clutch pedal assembly (got it a year ago and it's been working fine). I wonder if I should tinker with it. Thanks for the help guys! |
So I looked up similar issues on the forum and it seems to me that what probably happened is that I boiled my clutch fluid. It was pretty hot yesterday and I did a few pulls at peak temp before parking the car away. Now that I think about it, I had actually noticed in colder temps recently that my catch point dropped a fair bit so I'm thinking that's what happened.
Will try that first! |
Csc

Check clutch fluid level. If not leaking and no pedal then the Master Cylinder is bad/ORings are worn out.

mileage? Ur CSC is prob fuct. Time 2 upgrade to a metal 1. May as well upgrade teh hole dam system while the tranny out....new clutch/flywheel, replace restrictor w/brake union, Z1 tranny mount, ARP flywheel/PP bolts, etc...D0 IT RIGHT!

Thanks for the responses guys! Mileage is about 40k miles.
So the situation was a bit sticky (car outside on the driveway, blocking my other car, on an incline, no one around to help me push it around, worked from home for a day, lots of construction happening in the area etc etc) I figured I had to take action fast as I was having Ricky Bobby style fits - and got it towed. I wanted to get the work done at a Z shop here and maybe go aftermarket but they couldn't take me in until June 7th, so I ended up taking it to a dealership. I got a call back from them earlier today and they said the cylinders look fine and that I probably boiled the fluid. They're doing a bleed right now. I don't understand some of this stuff but didn't argue - don't want to burn a hole in me pocket. :ugh2:. I guess maybe it makes sense because the pedal didn't lose hydraulic pressure, it just dropped a little bit and my bite point was already pretty low. Not looking forward to running into this again...:shakes head: |
So it ended up being some rubber seal in the master cylinder, they say it expanded due to the boil or something like that. Took it up the a** :owned:. They replaced the master and put in some new fancy high boiling fluid and are confident the slave is fine and that the setup overall will not give me any trouble again....I have my doubts .

hahahahahha good luck let us know when you're getting it towed in a month or two. Nissan fail.
