2010 Z won't start even after steering column recall
check clutch switch.
or brake switch if yours is a AT.
you can thank wheeee! |
Yes it is AT, thanks I hadn't read about that being a possible issue....
Any other parts that may be causing this? I want to let the dealer exactly what to check since this never happens when its at the dealer and its practically impossible to reproduce on the fly |
if your ipdm is shot that could have a similar symptom as the steering lock failure, but ive not read too many of those (maybe one or 2 cases) over 5yrs. and those *may* have been an improperly diagnosted steering lock failure case too... so.
Thanks, so those are the 2 most likely scenarios?
unless a mouse ate your harness or something... :ugh2:
[slingblade] ain't got no gas[/slingblade]
how much is that ipdm to replace? is it supposed to be covered under the 100k warranty?
Any other ideas anyone?
Could it be fuel injectors/battery/fuel pump?
someone stuck potatoes in your exhaust? .. :ugh:
wat did your dealer say? have it towed, get it fixed. |
Are we sure it's not the steering lock? I know the Rev D (used for the recall) has been known to fail.
Did it start the second time? The video was too low for my laptop speakers to pick anything up. If so, this is kind of the problem I've been having but I have yet to figure out what it is. The only thing I've done is have JARblue pull my steering lock fuse and that was at least a year ago.

I don't think this is an ESCL problem. IIRC, the ECM only checks the ESCL at the beginning of the start cycle and doesn't care if it disappears. But I'm not 100% sure.
I don't think it's the brake switch or you would get a message on the multi-display. The brake message you are getting looks like the parking brake warning to me. If you don't want to take it to a dealer, then I suggest you get an OBD scanner and see if you can spot any bad sensors that may be causing the shutdowns. The FSM will be a big help. I'd also check for any loose connectors under the hood. Good luck and keep us posted. |
