Who's to say they don't have a "shop disc" lying around for just such occasions? Not that I wouldn't trust a dealership.......I had it in for oil change and inspect at around 11k with a coupon for $18 change and they hit me with an $80 for 4 wheel align because tires looked choppy....they looked fine to me, but dealer says align was out of spec......phooey.

I hate stealerships. They basically love making up projects. I have yet to take my car back in to one since I made them install an aftermarket deck cause they couldn't get me a nav. I still ended up taking the install apart and redoing it properly

I dont trust the dealer to do any work. I even put the silly illuminated kick plates in myself on my 13 since on my 09 they broke the foam block thing under the carpet on the drivers side so it never sat flush to the floor anymore while trying to run the wires under them to the plug. Such a simple task and they cave manned it.
Another incident where someone tried to break into my car and had actually pulled the door handle "all of it" away from the door. Took it to the dealership to fix it and they HAD to replace the entire door mechanism inside and out for some dumb *** reason. So after waiting 2 hours for the ******* to read the instructions he hands me the keys and i get in and drive out to the parking lot. Then just out of curiosity I parked, got out and tested the door from the inside "locked and unlocked" and then the outside "locked and unlocked" and what do ya know, the god damn door wouldnt open after it was locked then unlocked from the outside. Because he had installed it wrong even while following step by step instructions. If they cant install kickplates and a door handle you think they can work on something as complex as an ENGINE? laughable They know NOTHING about the damn Z and GTR, every time I see them working on one they have a wrench in one hand and a set of instructions they are seeing for the first time in the other. Your far better off doing the work yourself or taking it to an experienced well known mechanic that services all makes and models. Even then its a pain to find someone you can trust that wont lie and try to sell you extra parts and labor you dont need. |

I read your story. It sucks. You can get a engine from time to time that the rings just won't seat. The older inline 6 L28 engines could be a pain. Many older tech's that I have talked to said they would take them out and run the crap out of them with no water when they changed an engine. I thought that was crazy but it must of worked for them. I would short change this first change at 1000 miles if it was me. I also would suggest to change the oil every 6 months or 3,000 miles. My wife's 03' Maxima will eat some oil at 80,000 miles if I let it go over 6 months. She doesn't drive that much and is only 6 miles to work. It kills the oil. The worst kind of a commute, a very short one.

I check my oil a few times between oil changes. I've only added maybe half a quart between 4k mi oil changes.
Ditto on the comments about Nissan Techs. Do it yourself or find a reputal indy garage. Last edited by rgunho; 07-13-2014 at 06:12 PM. |

well I finally heard back from Nissan today. As I expected they baulked on my dual exhaust. I kind of expected as much, but they did offer me warranty on my engine up to 100,000 miles or 7 years which I'm satisfied with. The way things have been going I'm gonna need it.
