Noise in engine bay

Started to notice this noise recently. I don't recall hearing this before. Anyone knows if this is normal or something to be concerned about?

It's not the clutch

Warning: May be loud!

Are you talking about the high pitched whine? I have that too. It is really clear if you just hit the start button twice and put the car into acc mode. A few other members have reported it too but no one has had any issue with the car with this noise present from what I can tell. I believe the noise comes from the alternator. Atleast that is where it sounds like it is coming from.

If you have access to a stethoscope remove the end to where its just the open hose and you can use that to pinpoint noises.

No, it's the "Tick tick" sound. I thought the high pitch noise was the fuel pump? I have no clue

not the clutch bearing either. pushing the clutch in doesn't remove this specific noise

I couldn't hear any ticktick :/ Using my cellphone speakers at work haha. Fuel pump is behind the passenger seat btw. Better not be hearing it all the way out in front of the car lol.

can't hear it at work but is it just valve chatter? Shouldn't be a concern unless one goes flying through your hood.

you said (while sitting in the car) push the start button to "acc" that's what I meant :rofl2:

Oh well yeah I meant do that and get out of the car to hear it lol. Neither here nor there since we are listening for ticking now ha :roflpuke2:

Ill have to give this another listen once I get home. Cell phone speakers are sucking butts.

That sounds pretty normal to me. Might be easier if you had 2 cars side by side. Have you changed your oil recently or are you due for an oil change? That has the most bearing on the valve noise/chatter.

Could be a louder than normal tensioner or belt idler bearing.

Yea, changed oil about a month ago. Oil level is between low and high.
Good idea on the side by side check. Maybe in the next meet I'll check with one of you guys

That's what I think it may be. is that cause for concern?

Its VVEL ticking absolutely normal, with an old oil it does get loud especially on idle, if u have an osirus tune and it didnt have any adjustments its even louder on old oil, so plz change ur oil accordingly.

I dont know if I would worry to to much about it. One way to tell is if you have a automotive stethoscope you would be able to pinpoint the noise much easier. Alternatively if you have one of those infrared temp gauges and you can get it on the pulley you could look to see if any extra heat is coming off the bearing in question.

New oil. Less than 500miles on it. Thanks for the reply

Hmm don't have neither of those.

I added half a litre oil now it's reading high on oil stick but sound is still there. It's nothing I hope
