What do you want your car to do if you don't track that an LSD will help you accomplish? Are you getting mods to get mods? If you're treating mods like pokemon and you just gotta have em all then by all means. But otherwise you wouldn't know it's there.
Same with final gear swap. If you hate gas mileage then go for it.

The problem with the OEM VLSD is that it easily overheats & performance falls off fast & will eventually burnout leaving you with 1 tire fire syndrome. I like solutions like the gear driven units from Wavetrac & Quailfe over clutch pack solutions which require more maintenance & most of the time special friction additives. If you are a person who likes spirited driving thru the twistys, the Wavetrac & Quailfe are great options. For competition clutch packs are more positive in their engagement & if it's a drag car nothing beats a spool. if you are looking for more drive out of the corners, an aftermarket diff will be an improvement over the VLSD If it had been out when I did my Quailfe & gears, I would have opted for the Wavetrac as it has an advantage as it is able to be tuned. YMMV

Good Thread;
11' open diff A/T,,,want to keep stock gear ratio-i just want both wheels to even power for drag/drift etc... Quaife,OS Giken,etc...? all opinion's are welcome-no roadcourse;mostly straight line & want it to be locked like a spool out of the hole. But'''' only under hard acceleration (trying not to completely throw fuel milage out the window) i know Quaife is helical gears & Giken uses conventional clutch packs... all input welcome. Ty

I have no experience with Quaife but I love my Wavetech and it is just like Quaife but better because it does lock when the wheel is free. The price, installation and maintenance are the same. I am pretty amazed at how difference in acceleration there is and on uneven surfaces you don't get the surprise step out because one wheel left the ground for .05 of a second. It definitely has increased my confidence under hard acceleration being boosted.

So just to verify this kit will work for upgrading rear lsd. I know I'll need a stub axle:
https://www.z1motorsports.com/rear-d...it-p-7528.html Also there's a post talking about ring gear bolts are those necessary? Thank you |

Does anybody have some insight?
I've been reading much about getting a finned NISMO diff cover for my TT conversion. So I had a look under my UKDM 370Z GT Edition M/T. It was built April 2013, hence MY12. As you can see, mine has a finned stock diff housing.. How come? When was this introduced by Nissan.. and does it mean I can skip the Nismo diff cover mod? On google I cannot find any 370Z resembling my underside

So I ordered a Wavetrac LSD from Vivid Racing and am now looking at the additional parts I need to install it. I have a 2010 NISMO (which I believe has the stock VSLD) which Wavetrac's website indicates I need a "RH axle flange 38220-JK01B". Would someone confirm that this is the only part I need? Are there any other parts that would be good to replace or upgrade while I am at it?
The best price I see is here: http://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/parts...220-jk01b.html Last edited by BlackZeda; 07-05-2016 at 08:19 PM. |

Some SPL or Whiteline diff bushings would be good to upgrade

You'll want to replace the bearings and seals at the same time.
