And bolt, drive gear (Ring gear bolts)
P# 38102 x10
$2.79 each

These are both essential when changing the LSD and for a final gear swap just the bolts are essential.
So are the bolt, drive gear required?..I don't see it on post #1. I don't see it on Z1 site either.

an FYI for people who are confused by axle stubs and what not.. if you are upgrading from a VLSD to an OSG/Wavetrac/Cusco etc you'll need an additional driver side stub (part #38220-JK01B or 38220-1NC1B) or you need to machine your passenger side stub to remove the tapered part

heres some pics that helped me figure things out pulled from nasaforums.com

a. driver/pass stub with a tapered end from an open diff or passenger stub on a VLSD (part #38220-JK01A)

b. driver side stub on a VLSD (you will need to buy one of these if you're going from an open diff to VLSD (part #38220-JK01B or 38220-1NC1B)

c. inside of the diff where the stub's lock into place

I didn't had any issue when I installed the Cusco LSD into the VLSD diff.

I have a base touring with an open diff. What stub axles do I need?

depends on the diff you're going to upgrade to. my picture guide above literally tells you what you'd need! read it carefully. its a bit confusing, but i explained it pretty well

the Z1 differential bearing and seal kit includes a "Pinion Crush Sleeve." Is this part necessary?

The guys at Z1 sent all I needed EXCEPT Spacers. When you install you'll need a variety of spacers to try in order to get your lash just right. I used trial and error. your stock spacers MIGHT work if you are lucky, but you probably need to try in a few different sizes. This is the main reason this is not really a DIY mod. Have an experienced shop do it (like ship your pumpkin to Z1 perhaps)

Heres a link to my diff building page to better explain the install. (I used a Quaife)

Surfdog's 09 journal

good luck

id like to recommend the wavetrac lsd for those looking for good performance with everyday driveability. I had a Kaaz lsd prior to the wavetrac. No more clunks at slow speeds! Difference is night and day, it operates so quietly and still will put that power down. The maintenance on them is basically install and forget. Fluid changes after 20k plus. For those with the vlsd, all you need to get is an extra axle flange. Makes my car so much more enjoyable. I think the kaaz lsd is just too agressive for street driving, the pops and clunks at slow speeds made my car sound like it was broken. And not to mention the constant fluid changes with every oil change. With that said though, the kaaz i think put that power down a little better than the wavetrac. But i'll sacrifice a little performance for driveability.
WavetracŪ Differential - A torque biasing differential with a difference for more info

And i got a great deal from vividracing on this.
