Skip it and get a Wavetrac, Quaife, OS Giken, etc. The stock VLSD is not very good.

These three are proven upgrades and often debate as to which are the best. OS Giken generally comes on top for tracking and the other two for both track and street use. If you have an manual I would opt for the Wavetrac because it will lock more so than the Quaife when one of the rear tires leave the ground. Quaife is solid and a proven product on the racing circuits.

I am getting the Wavetrac. Like stock maintenance. Just waiting a bit before placing the order.

I may be reviving dying thread, but some of the terms used in these kind of threads are unclear to me. when people talk about swapping pumpkins(differentials?)are they simply referring to carrier assembly, or are there other parts necessary? can i simply swap my base auto carrier with the mt vlsd carrier and then install the 4.08 gears

The best LSD for tracking is CUSCO. The downside is it's a clunky LCD for daily driving. :driving:

You posted on 2 threads,, I gave a description on other one. Also can call Z1 Motorsports & confirm needed parts for swap

LMAO, the Cusco is a good unit no doubt but saying it is the best is debatable. I would go with OS Giken over Cusco if my Z was a dedicated track machine. That being said my Wavetrac does a damn good job for me and my skill level. The bottom line, it is about what suits your own personal needs.

That quote I took from you was referring to the best LCD, not personal preference. :driving:

I still stand by what I said OS Giken trumps Cusco and I'm glad you like yours!:tiphat:

Love my OS Giken, I paid the extra for it because my research told me it was the best available.

WaveTrac was not available. I had the OS Giken installed. It is very quite for a clutch diff. My car will come off a corner now like never before. This should be number one on the upgrade list before any suspension work.

I tell people this all the time and they say they want to wait or it's not worth it...well I waited to do when I did my final suspension upgrades and was pleasantly surprised at the difference it made and would have made it one of my first suspension upgrades with hind sight being 20:20!
