Horrendous reversing screech!

Actually beyond a screech - whenever I reverse in my 370z there's an horrendous screeching noise like a rusty tractor. I've read this is fairly common ?!!! but in a 40k car ?! (Mine is 2010 with only 20k on it) Can I fix this myself or does this have to get booked in - its so embarrassing that I've avoided parking anywhere I'm going to have to reverse out of! I love driving this car but the poor build quality is starting to make me think I should be back in an M3 ! Any help appreciated
