Service engine soon light please help

Hi, i have a 2009 6mt and about a month ago right before doing an oil change the "service engine soon" light came on, no other lights came on with it no oil warning light or anything, but after doing an oil change that night the light went away, I'm just trying to determine what all can cause this light to come on because i thought if the oil was too low then it would be an oil pressure warning light not the service engine soon light, however the car does have a bad habit of burning oil between changes and I just want to find out if I need to get it into a dealer before the warranty is up or if this light has nothing to do with oil level/pressure/cleanliness

any help is much appreciated

If you still have powertrain warranty use it, also burning oil is not normal and doing a simple oil change will not turn on a CEL (check engine light) or make one go away.

thanks, scheduled to drop it off monday at the local dealer, hopefully they can find/fix whatever is wrong with it

Did you check the oil level? Did thr dealer discuss a possible issue with you? The information that you provided is very vague. Have the codes read and go from there, unless you plan on having the dealer do the work for ypu

Go get the code checked. Autozone will let you use the scanner for free. And for the love of God man, commas are not periods. :p

I hope my GF doesn't miss that many periods. :)

Maybe some switched the keys on his keyboard.
