Oil Cooler and Engine Reliability

there a a few members with high mileage FI cars here on the forums, FI and oil coolers, that's proof enough for me.

There is a Mocal 200 degree thermostatic plate. I have it on my car instead of the 180 degree one.

Also, I don't think the oil lines drain every time you shut off the engine. Wouldn't that oil be pulling a vacuum as it is pulled down by gravity? There's no air available to displace the oil in the lines right? Maybe I don't understand how the oil system is plumbed, but that is what I thought.

They don't. You're right. Between the fact the ports on the oil cooler core are facing up and the fact that the oil filter has an anti-drainback valve that the oil would have to flow backwards through somehow, there's nothing to worry about.

I had no idea that there is an anti-drainback valve in the oil filter... good to know.
