changing fluids
I have 56k miles on a used 2009. the clutch fluid is on the Min line.
1. What goes in Dot3 or good time to change all fluids-brakes,power steering, oil and something else. 2. The radiator fluid is the blue stuff(100k) but manual says change it out about 70k? or does it go by years? please help with the confusion..THANKS |

If I just bought a used sports car, I'd swap all of the belts, rad hoses and fluids out regardless of what the previous owner had or hadn't done. Maybe plugs too. Definitely an oil analysis.

56k on an '09.
Let's see, well I'd change engine oil, tranny lube and rear diff lube to synthetic. N-spect serpentine belt, if u see crax, then change it... Plugs, change if u'r really paranoid...NeeSan says the iridiums can go 105k? LOL! I changed my plugs @ 5k miles w/coppers...NGK, fawk that Denso shi+! DOT 4 for the clutch, no questions... Anti-Freeze, the Wal*MarX shi+ is fine, but if dumping that, then may as well change out thermostat...upper/lower hoses should be inspected, if no crax, don't worry 'till over 120k, but of course this varies w/location/environment... oil analysis, eh? just gonna tell u what the previous owner did/didn't do...to late now...u own it! Maybe it will tell u to get rid of it soonest! |

change fluids
1. Change the tranny fluid and rear diff with what brand and wt. more specific.. It is manmade so it is all synthetic?
2. What is wrong with iridiums and did you see a difference with copper NGK. On my 300zx They had to be nissan brand or they were not long enough making a poor idle. 3. The antifreeze is some blue Nissan stuff. Does the silicone hoses for radiator worth the extra money. It will be my daily driver for about 5 yrs. my last car I kept for 14 yrs THANKS |

3. Depends on the state of your current hoses. The silicone one's will never degrade. Just remember you need t-bolt clamps, not worm drive. |

I just received my transmission and differential fluids in the mail and will be changing them tonight. The transmission uses 6 US pints (3 quarts) and Redline MT-85. The differential uses 3 US pints (1.5 quarts) and Redline 75W90.
FWIW, some people order an extra quart of the transmission fluid just to make sure they can get some overflow when they fill it.

Copper plugs don't last nearly as long as other plugs. I'd just put in another set of OE plugs and be done with it. I'd replace the coolant with the same stuff, but I'd change it out a hell of a lot more often than the manual states. The hoses are a good deal considering silicone will last far longer than rubber. A busted radiator hose will leave you stranded on the side of the road. Do that.

Why would there be any warranty concerns with a different fluid than OEM assuming they have the same specs?

There shouldn't be. Some people just like to stick with OEM everything. To each their own

There really can't be unless they supply you with no-cost OEM stuff, right? That's my understanding of the Magnussen-Moss Act.

Yes. It is not legal for the dealer to deny warranty coverage for using OEM equivalent fluids.

That's not one to overthink. Look at the spec in the manual, buy something that's not the auto parts store's house brand.

I have some of the Redline fluid for our power steering system at home. I believe it is the D4 ATF fluid (it's automatic transmission fluid). I did not use their Power Steering Fluid.
