yeah eventually you notice second and third gear take a while to come up to speed and get notchier if you force them, then it all snowballs from there.

my 350z trans lasted about 60,000 miles before it had a problem. Well, the original trans was replaced at a couple thousand miles as defective, but then the replacement went on forever. My 370z trans is coming up on 60,000, no grinding or notchiness or anything.. smooth as silk minus a scratchy 5th gear which it has had forever. I only full throttle shift into it occasionally as most challengers dont want to continue at those speeds. I know these transmissions are not the greatest, but they arent as bad as people say. My 370z trans loves rapid full throttle shifting. It is rather difficult to master the timing on the 1-2 shift, but otherwise 5th gear is the only one that complains to me. Even just driving low RPM around town i have to pause briefly between taking it out of 4th, before going into 5th, or it will scratch. I am still on factory fill trans fluid.

I dont think its luck! I think the car is built a little tougher than people think, and I think I do really good work on the install/builds!

Welllll, i have verified. It is the clutch pedal slamming haha. Suprised i didnt catch that. I dont side step but i let off the clutch a little fast at the end when stomping it. Well that is a relief. I agree about any car i owned, 1-2 is the hardest to transition smoothly everytime. I'll make the car jerk back and forth every now and then

Thats the only thing I have ever seen give any grief aside from occasional 3rd gear splitting. There is a member here that broke off his input shaft though.

i've wondered if the reason that the synchros have so much of an issue with high rpm shifting on this car is precisely because the trans is built so heavy. lighter smaller gearsets would be less mass the synchro's would have to deal with.
