Do i need to replace the clutch when a CSC brakes?
I read briefly that there is a possibility that the clutch needs to be replaced when the CSC goes bad
Is this true? im ordering parts to replace the CSC and CMC and if i need a new clutch disk id want to order it now so i can get the job done in 1 day so i can drive the car again Thanks Mike |
If the clutch got soaked in fluid then yes. otherwise no

If the flywheel got soaked. You can parts clean it and steam it for good measure. Then check for hot spots.

the lighter the flywheel the more chatter you will get (just a forewarning) and the jwt is just a stock disk with higher clamp so you *could* just replace the friction disk and clean off the flywheel and pressure plate. I wouldn't go crazy with a parts washer and steaming you dont want to wash the lube out of the pressure plate assembly just get the brake fluid out. call up jwt and see if you can just get the friction disk. You hardly have any mods so you could just run a nissan clutch on the jwt flywheel if you want something that will be easier on the CSC. (lower clamp pressure means less work for the hydraulics, and it has the correct finger engagement instead of using a 350z pressure plate like the jwt)

should only need a can of brake cleaner, its brake fluid take it apart spray the flywheel wheel wipe off with a rag, spray out the presure plate assembly spring area a bit, and then spray and wipe the pressure plate itself and let it dry for 15mins. its brake fluid not oil so it doesn't take much to clean it you just cant get it out of the friction disk so that needs to be replaced. might as well clean out the bell housing a little while your in there too. same deal spray and wipe. nissan is being a bunch of jacokoffs about this whole deal instead of just fixing it. between this, the cvt's, and the puke i really don't know about the brands future(these csc's have been an issue since the 06 nismo and the still havent fixed it)
also the exedy kits all have the correct syle spring fingers for the 370z(so long as you dont buy a 350z one which parts places have been known to sell for the 370) but they are a bit pricey the stage one is already over $1k |

If your going to replace the CSS, then you might as well update the clutch & flywheel to a better aftermarketpiece. You already haev the transmission dropped, so why not. The main thing is $$$$.
