First I'm going to drop & drill the pan & add a temp sensor so I can track how hot things are getting & be able to better estimate how much fluid break down is occurring while being able to see if and how much additional cooling is needed for my application. Then I'll put some of that thermodynamic knowledge to good use & figure out how big of a cooler I really need for my application.
Well if you leave in the OEM BS one in the radiator wouldn't that eliminate the risk of overcooling?

A couple of reason I would rather not. My thoughts are, I really don't want to risk coolant & ATF mixing because of some misfortune. If I am going to put a cooler in, why would I want to pre-heat the air that is suppose to remove excess BTU's? & If I can use a smaller cooler, it will block less airflow to the radiator keeping coolant & engine oil temps cooler. Thinking of mounting an external Trans-oil filter while I'm at it if I find a good location. Most of my parts are sourced already, so now I just need to find the time to tear it all down & get it done.
Then after that we can talk about that ride
