Local auto store should have Gates belts... I forgot the exact size/part #, but I know O'Reilly normally stocks it.

Just order the crank and alternator pulley. I'll let yall know how the install and what not goes. Hoping to have it done before my gears next week. Any suggestions on how to remove the crank pulley? Heard it can be a b****.

Removing the crank pulley is not very easy. I don't recommend even trying by yourself in your home garage, unless you've got friends to help and/or the right tools. The best tool for locking the flywheel in place would be to order the one that Nissan lists in their service manual, but you can get by with a second person and a prybar or large screwdriver to hold the back. Get the biggest longest breaker bar setup you can for loosening the front pulley nut.

First paragraph from my stillen pulley install here might prove useful: http://www.the370z.com/members-370z-...html#post59072

If worst come to worse I can do this, but I already ordered it, and there's no rush so I'm not worried for a delay in a backorder. Just wondering if it was in stock or not cause I moved last weekend so I had a new address to ship to.

Why can't I just throw the car in 6th gear and set the e-brake? That bolt can't be on tight enough to turn that kinda mass.

I'm considering getting a set of NST pulleys next spring, I would like the engine to be a bit more responsive when revving both for rev matching and just revving in general. How much is a ballpark figure for installation for those who have had a shop install their pulleys?

birdmanx1 08-06-2011 06:37 AM

Christian, I've had mine done for $150. There were absolutely no issues with the install.

No the coolant pump and oil pump are controlled by the timing chain, which is separate from the belt/crank pulley.

The pulley belt runs the alternator, A/C, and power steering.

For those with this mod, any increase in engine noise over time? I'm talking those who have had them for atleast 6 months.

Kind of odd that we can get picture updates in the other thread, but can't get a response on here or from PMs... :icon08:

NST Still waiting on that belt, or at least a good word on when they'll be in stock/shipping... :ugh2:

For those of you with these installed already, did you use the Gates K070786 Belt that comes from NST, or did you use the OEM one already on the car, and if you didn't use either of those, and got your own, What belt did you get and from Where??

I hope you eventually get the belt. I used the belt provided by NST for my pulleys. You can use the OEM belt but it won't fit the same as the NST belt. It was covered way early in this thread and that's why NST started providing the kit with the belt.

Here is what the package looked like for me, it came with M&M

Yeah, mine did too lol It was cool even though I don't eat them. I was notified on my invoice that they were out of stock, and would be back in stock by end of July. Well it's almost mid august now and still no word from them on if they're in stock (Even though the website said they were when I ordered, and still does say in stock) And I'm trying to be patient with them, but I really don't like having the parts sitting here wanting to install them, with no belt. And I'm almost about to just go to autozone and get one, but I want to make sure I get the right one since obviously the OEM one they'll have listed isn't right...

I ordered my pulley's friday and got them wednesday. I didn't order the belt though. Gonna go pick it up from o'reilly's tomorrow. And the m&m's were freaking sweet. Thanks!
