The OEM pulley has been removed without the need for a puller, on the installations that we have completed at NST recently.

Pullers are generally more of a necessity when it comes to older, high mileage, engines... as a general rule of thumb.

I'm kind of interested, but what is the general consensus about the stock crank pully having a damper while the aftermarket ones do not. I skimmed the post but didn't see this really mentioned.

I remeber a few years ago people shying away from these for that issue because of concerns that there would be some kind of balance or wear issue.

The short response? Price, number of pulleys offered at that price, color options, and hard anodized pulleys offered by NST.
