the fact that there are so many options out there and everybody says something different. Called the dealership to see how many quarts I need to bring, they said 6. Told them I was planning on using RP which they thought was just fine, then when I said PureOne the service guy freaked out and advised me not to use them..

Fact: My father has a 350z with 196,XXX on Mobil1 5w-30 with fram filters and no problems. Fact: My 370z has 59593.xx miles on it using Mobil1 5w-30 using the mobil1-110 filter. That filter is for the Nissan titan but offers a little bit more filtering. MY interchanges used to be 6k because all of my driving was freeway. Now that I live closer to work and only commute 13 miles a day it is back down to 3250. You should have done some research or some more thinking before posting up more questions that have been answered too many times to talk about in this thread. Hope you investigate what ISLAC means and how it effects your car. Get educated.

Hey bro I wasn't trying to be a d*ck, understand that I have been on this site for almost 2 yrs and have seen numerous oil threads. It's kinda like askin someone what toilet paper works best for them. Some people like scott, some like charmin ultra strong with the double roll, or some like using Bounty paper towels.
Being that the car requires a ISLAC GF-6 oil, that should narrow it down for you. If you read the owners manual on your car you would see that that is the requirement from Nissan. Now with that being said, the only thing that makes the Nissan Ester oil a ISLAC GF-6 is the ester itself. Next best is your Mobil 1 oil. Im not going to clue you in on the filters, I will give you this. Keep in mind what microns are and how many you want on your oil filter. This is what I meant by educate yourself. The search feature on this site really is awesome and you can get a lot of information by doing the reading on your own. I recommend either mobil1 filters or k&n but that is just me.

jk bro if you want simple, run either nissan's ester oil, redline 5w30, or mobil 1 0w40 those are all popular oils here on the fourms, just remember every motor is different so you will have to play around with oils in order to find one your car likes, what works for one person might not work for you, and as far as a filter goes, stick to name brands, K&N, Mobil 1, ect. I personally run 0w40 M1 with a K&N HP1008 filter

Although I agree with the Purolator Pure One PL14610 being a good option do you guys think if something happened to the engine the warranty could possibly be denied due to an incorrect filter #. PL14612 is the specified Purolator filter. I guess you could leave the door open for Nissan to get off on a technicality. I use Redline 5W30 but it's difficult to come buy around here so I may go with Mobil 1 5W30 next change.

Jeez us what a thread, didn't read all of it, started at this page.
I think they told him 6 quarts because the car takes 5.125 quarts.

I agree with all of you WRT PL14610. Probably no harm no foul. It would be a prick move on Nissan's part but look what happened in another post in this thread. A poster called the dealer and mentioned Purolator and they weren't too receptive to that idea. so one could only surmise they could be all over a wrong part number given an opportunity. Until mine is out of warranty or I trade for a C7 I'm using what is specified, M-108's, OEM and PL14612's.

I'm shocked this thread has gone on this long. Usually oil threads get shut down in a hurry. Mods must be on vacation.
