370z engine stall
i Have a 2011 370z and sometimes when I start it up the engine cuts off, it happens 2 or 3 times in a row and I have to push the gas pedal down to keep the engine from cutting off. This issue only happens 1 or 2 time a week. I took it to the dealer and they could not get the issue to happen when they had the car, but they did reset the idle computer and everything was fine for 2 or 3 weeks but then it stated happening again. Does anybody know what could be the problem.

I'm no engine expert, I would assume though that if the ECU has been reset, I'd look at either spark plugs, fuel sender, alternator or injectors since you have to "feed" the engine to keep it running. Let the heavy experienced forum members chime in.

Do you have an CAI? are your RPM's steady? or they drop to 500 or less ?

I had this problem with my nismo. Check oil levels, you're probably low on oil also if you're running Nissans ester oil get rid of it and run something else.
Also go to the dealer and do a oil consumption test. Also where in socal are you? If you're in or near SD I'll come help ya out. |
oily maf?

too much oil on air filter?
|
bad gas?
|
too much tacohell?

It happens to me once in awhile as well, but my car is turbo'd and has the UpRev tune. It doesn't matter if it's hot or cold outside. It'll crank, idle, drop, stall. Giving it some gas helps, and it's fine afterward.

First thing I'd do is plug in an OBD scanner and see if any DTCs have been thrown. If you get a decent scanner, you can also monitor the engine parameters. If you get a real good scanner, you can do some logging.
kenchan has come up with several possibilities. Check all that stuff (except for maybe the tacohell thing ;) ). |
Kenchan tacohell thing could be the issue dont bypass that it could be the one. I would hate for you to bypass that step and then have to go all the way back and check that and to find that is the issue.

My problem went away when I started changing my own oil. |

well you dont expect to be low on oil after 1k miles from your last oil change(750 to be exact was when it started and after the dealer kept telling me they cant replicate it, i got fed up and started checking everything around 1k miles from the last oil change) and i didnt think low oil would cause a problem like this |

for me i only drive my Z on the weekends and my routine includes unplugging the battery manager, check fluid levels, psi prior to pulling out. :) |
