oil cooler hoses, up or down?
just installed the stillen oil cooler. the instructions left ALOT out. anyways, i didnt like where they mounted the oil cooler (the oil lines were crammed) so i moved it to the center of the grill opening. looking around, most people have the oil lines pointing down, whereas i put mine pointing up. i cant imagine it matters (still pushing the same amount of oil, except now the oil wont back drain), but i figured id ask just incase.

As long as you realize you'll have a quart of dirty oil left in the cooler at every change..unless you pull the lines at the sandwich plate and blow it out (sounds kinda messy!).
Not a big deal, but this will drive the anal types crazy. |

It really shouldn't matter, the Setrab core flows in either direction. I guess when you do the oil change, it might be a good idea to have it aiming down so that everything drains more easily. There's gonna be some oil left in the system anyway. As far as actual operation, it shouldn't matter if they are facing up or down or diagonally, the motor has an oil pump so there's always positive pressure in the system and the core is always full of oil.

little follow up-
very happy with how the oil cooler performs. it is sitting in the middle of the grill, so its getting maximum air flow. it works GREAT. its 100 degrees out today, which usually means i am at 240-250 with a little spirited driving (im not talking caynon carving, i mean accelerating from red lights, ect). with the cooler, i couldnt get the temp past 215 during a 5 mile uphill canyon run. before, i would have to take it easy the last mile or two due to the oil hitting close to 260. almost too good to be true!

OiI Cooler plumbing
Any issues with adding a oil peacock to drain the oil out of the oil cooler in order to avoid removing the sandwich plate to drain the oil out of the oil cooler?
