Need someone to do me a favor
Ok important question if you disconnect your ecu what still works. Looking to find out if windows, locks, blower/vent controls, stuff like that still works if someone can pull the connector off their ecu and try some of that stuff out that would be great, my car currently doesnt have a harness in it so im kinda outta luck testing it myself.

Ecu delete, and yeah I know some or most of it wont but I'm looking more of an actually tested answer. I figure its not terribly hard pull 6 screws drop the glovebox and disconnet ecu connector
edit oh and the lights need to know if those will work |

it wont be a hard job since I removed the glove box a while ago ;) I really don't remember what worked or not when I did the wiring setup last winter. |
Only if there's a separate body control ECU, which I believe there is...
However, whether or not it works without the EFI ECU is anyone's guess. Check the shop manual? |
Already did no mention of what will or wont work. If fan speed and vent controls, lights, doors and trunk, wipers, radio, steering lock, all work then hooray i dont need to replace them. Each one of those is a significant problem to replace, doable but im trying to keep the cost down.

Oh and there is a bcm, ipdm, security module, junction box, and a couple other non ecu boxes that handle a lot of these functions but i dont know how reliant they are on can data, the vss is actually routed through the bcm so abs should still work though i doubt it will.

Eventually i plan to rewire the entire car to shed a 100lbs of wiring

yer, these car have all sorts of modules. A bit of a over kill for a NA sports car which needs to be light. The AUS version even has pop up hood system which adds another 2kg up front.
Remember to recycle the copper. |

It might be easy to test without any wiring changes -- aren't there a couple of dedicated EFI ECU fuses?
If so, you should be able to yank those and operate everything else (other than starting the car, that is). Should even have lights, etc. |
yeah i just don't know if the ecu fuses feed any of the other modules further down the wire. I don't even have a harness or motor in the car so I couldn't even try that.

This is with the key in my pocket. without the key. there is no way of having the system to ON since the BCM is looking for the key. unless I do my NATS hack from last spring which I could steal my own car in less than 5mins without any keys. hope thats help you. |
Wipers and everything? Sweet.

I must add that I cant know at 100% about the 3 gauge pods since I don't have those OEM anymore... the only problem on that OEM 3 gauge pods is the oil tempthat might not work. I think if I remember correctly it read the oil temp by CAN with the ECU. |
Great. I wonder if it works if u disconnect the main guage cluster.

With the key you can get it to the on position right? So iwould just need to put in an aftermarket push start module then for cranking, and new guages.
|
manually wire fuel pump, since it shuts off the pump if it doesnt see a running engine
well.. most likely anyway. never checked on this car, but most cars do that now. |

Hr head or a different swap ? What i said with and without the key is still right ... with key everything bcm related items work and without it .. cant put it to ON If you do the hr head . You dont need an aftermarket push start buttom. I havent tested the oil temp gauge with the hr/vhr ecu setup since I didnt installed the sensor. But the clock and battery gauge still worked untill I smashed the unit. |
V8 with standalone. Already figured i was going to lose it. I found a module that should work in parallel wih factory bcm and give me starter relay trigger.

Good point about the fuel pump but he new ecu has fuel pump control.

Also the a/c compressor will need to be turned on by the new ecu.
