how can the shift points in an auto. be raised ???

I will have a shop do it. Just want to know something when I approach the tech. I know I can shift higher after raising my red line, but prefer to leave it in drive, at least have that option.

Thanks

huh?

Floor it and it will run up to the redline. It's a pretty good automatic.

Don't change the redline.

maybe my question isn't clear

the answer to your post is, yes I know, & yes I know that too. As far as your 3rd. sentence, it's my car & I want to :p

Now I will be raising the redline & I also want to raise my trans. shifting points when it's under full power. I'll manage going to my shop without knowing how it's done.

thanks anyway....

andre12031948 11-18-2013 06:53 PM

did you just asked why????

:icon17:

Because I want to put test pipes on & get a tune. I KNOW that that will make the engine produce top H/P. at apx. 7,500 rpm.

If I get my trans. shifting at 7,700 rpm with a 7,800 rpm redline, plus the test pipes & tune, I'll be able to drive to the drag strip, & with my stock base wheels/tires and stock intake & exhaust, I'll be able to do 12.7's/12.8's @ 110 mph.

Enjoy one of my hobbies without working hard. Maybe do some bracket racing, that's why I don't want to shift.

my attitude is not serious :)

Unless u have cams, the gains versus the damage that might be done isn't really worth it.

But to raise the Rev limiter you'll need Osiris tuning.

I'm sorry I brought it up-NEVER AGAIN..

When & where did I ask how to raise the Rev limiter????

What damage? Shifter 200 rpm higher??? wtf ?

Do you know that STOCK the car shifts at almost 7,500 rpm when under full power??? That means having you floor the gas pedal..

What the fùck are you talking about then.

Please REREAD your posts and tell us what YOU mean.

Do you mean that you want to raise the shift point so the car doesn't always choose the tallest gear?

andre12031948 11-18-2013 08:48 PM

small gains?

This is what I need to do 12.7's/12.8's with STOCK INTAKES, EXHAUST.

When & where in this thread did you say drag racing times?

And why limit your mods when you're going to run slicks anyways? Why not just go balls to the wall

NO! so it shifts at higher rpm/shifts a bit later.

So... You want to raise the rev limiter...
If you raise the rev limiter it shifts later... That's just the way it works... There isn't an EXTRA step

............... I don't want to use slicks. Drive to track, race, drive back home.

Your previous posts imply you use slicks. 12.7-12.8... So top 5 times recorded... And you're NOT going to mod it to hell...

That's a challenge, I'd like to see it done though. Good luck

Isn't that the red line/cut off point??? I had a stick & I raised the rev limiter/red line & shifter at whatever rpm I wanted SO I either don't understand what rev limiter means or both of you guys are telling me that razing it also raises the shifting points. Is that right?????

Yes, both. You're not understanding, and yes, raising the rev limiter ups the shift points.
What else would it do? It's an auto, it shifts at the redline or damn close to it. You move the redline, it shifts at that red line.
