Vipor, what did you end up getting? I'm going to look out for your write up as I'm interested in seeing the install on a NISMO too.

Dont forget to insulate any of the stainless steel lines where ever they touch eachother or inparticular, the body or suspension of the car. If you dont, you "may" end up with a noise caused by them rubbing. Stillen tech said high pictched type noise. I wrapped each spot that might rub with a small section of heater hose,. split open to wrap the line with, then secured with black zip tie(s). That way, no worries and it should never rub through the lines, or make any noise. Not as pretty but you cant see them!

From talking with both Nissan Motorsports and Stillen, the assumption is that the noise is some how related to the oil pump?? The Aeroquip Socketless hose we offer in our kit addresses this problem as well as makes installation (i.e, hose routing) alot easier.

And for you guys looking to build your own kits, I highly recommend the Aeroquip Socketless Hose. Trying to cut and install this hose is alot simplier and less harazdous to your hands and fingers when cutting. Anyone who has installed AN- Fittings on SS Line knows it is a PITA, especially on smaller diameters.

:iagree: strongly with Dustin here...Having built many braided lines, and now the Socketless for my DIY cooler, I'll never go back. Easy routing, easy assembly. On the car for 3K miles now with no issues whatsoever..

Never mind that other thread Vipor, this is the one I've been looking for. Guess I'll just pick one up pretty quick. Thanks for the info, been wondering which one would fit or not.

24 hours and the bumper should be off and the cooler will be getting installed :excited:

ill check the extra clearance for a larger cooler when i do my install, both vertical and horizontal. the setrab 9 series 25 row is like 3 inches wider, so it'll be good to know.

Stillen said the noise was from the oil pump??Thats not what the tech told me and as a "used to be" Nissan mechanic that makes little sense. The Stillen tech stated they attributed it to the lines rubbing together with the metal covers and rubbing on the frame. Oil pump would be pretty hard to hear sitting in the oil and such.. Fuel pump could make noise and be heard.

Oil Cooler DIY on a Nismo is being worked on guys :D just got home after finishing. came out great

Steering away from it. My car isn't on the track enough, and I have heard of widespread problems with winter tempatures and the oil not getting up to temp!!

I m not entirely sure where the noise is coming from, the claim about it being from the oil pump was not directly from Stillen, myself and others here at the shop have been investigating this noise whenever it arises. We have installed numerous oil cooler kits with both SS and the Aeroquip Socketless Hose. For some reason, the SS line, even when insulated with either a rubber heater hose or a matching ID Silicone hose, seems to still generate the whining noise.

We had one customer come back and actually make the swap to the socketless line since it seems to completely eliminate the sound all together.
