Default Timing belt or chain?

Does the 370Z use a timing belt or a timing chain? I ask because I've been told that timing belts always need to be changed around 100K miles at a cost of about $1000 but timing chains do not need to be replaced.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Anyone charging you $1000 to change a timing belt is screwing the wheels off of you. But yes the 370z has a timing chain as stated by the others

They may make chains out of better materials than they used to but, back in The Good Ol' Days, we had to replace timing chains because they would stretch (changing the timing).

Your right timing chain is good to go. Only thing that could be an issue is the tensioner and guides. Hopefully in z they aren't made out of plastic like on 6th gen maxima. Most people rattled like crazy around 100k. Sounds eventually disappeared when engine was warm. Nissans quoted me About 1200 job because they also wanna do water pump and accessories while in there . Independent mechanic wanted 800 without fooling with water pump .

Just had to have the chain, tensioner & guides replaced on my 2005 Altima (3.5) at 111k, the whine was starting to sound like a jet engine.. Not cheap..

I had read the new parts they use in there now will not have the same problems. But here is the worst part and omg... The rental the dealer gave me to drive was a piece of junk Chevy Cruise, what could I say they didn't charge me for that. I can't believe people pay actual money for 4 cyl GM products.
It reminded me of the 76 Vega Jimmy Carter special my Mom used to have, I could swear the engine had not changed in all that time.
