can the throttle bodies be taken off?

Is it safe to just take these off if I wanted to polish them up?

can you take them off? yes

can you polish them? i don't think so. clean maybe but you don't have to remove them to clean the outside

You can get them off but it may not be intuitive how to do it. You have to remove the de-icing lines (engine coolant), retrain the TBs once you re-install them, &c. Procedures are in the FSM (see link in my sig) - check 'em out and see if it's something you think you could handle.

Yes there easy to remove IMO. They can be polished. Seen lots of tem done this way. Worth it? Probably not.

Probably not worth the risk. I can polish them on the car just hard on the ol back. I want them to matchup a little more to the rest of my bay

Like Spohn said - it's very easy. If you can turn a wrench, you can do it. All you have to do is remove the strut tower bar, remove the intake tubes, and then there are 4 bolts and the two coolant lines holding the throttle bodies. You'll see them no problem once you remove the intake tubing.

Retraining the TBs are what make me hesitate a little. I will look the procedure up maybe its easier than I think

I didn't retrain mine. I took them off for 3 months, and took my car apart. I put the TB's back in, and the car fired right up no problem.

Same here. Took them off when I put my m370 intake on and never retrained them after I re-installed them. Not a single problem.
