Code P0106
Hey yall, well look I've had this code called P0106 and I've had it for a while and its called the Barrometric Pressure Sensor/MAP sensor. I thought I had found it but I'm not sure and I want to fix it because its driving me insane seeing that CEL light lmao...I went to the dealer and I dedcribed what I thought it was but damn $700 for the MAP (Top left assembly looking thing) I would appreciate some help and info on how to replace it because I know its faulty.

Not sure what you are talking about in the pic but there ain't no MAP shown. The MAP is located on the top of the intake manifold, at the rear, on the left side. You have to remove the rear part of the engine cover to get to it (two small nuts and a bolt). See page EC-111 of the 2009 FSM for the official location diagram.

Thanks man I knew they were wrong I was like WTF!? $700 for a map sensor lmao but thanks ima take a look at it then
You'll see it when you remove the engine covers, like SouthArk said. It's on the backside of the manifold and it has one bolt holding it to the inside of the manifold, IIRC. Also has one pigtail connector.

Just trying to get an understanding since I've never messed with the MAP sensor of this car and here's a more better picture, the bold red is what I unscrewed and then I rememvered you said its only one bolt so is it the thin circled one? Also how do you clean I have the Maf Sensor cleaner here with me :)

I'm not sure how to clean a MAP sensor but I did see in the FSM that it has a silicone diaphragm. Make sure whatever you use is compatible. |
Yea I found it I googled the page you told and downloaded the file, I took it off and sprayed Maf cleaner in it like 4-6 inches away from it and cleaned whatever ressidue there was like damn my MAP was dirty I reseted the ecu and waiting right now as we speak and then ill get on it and report back. I say they should sticky or someone make a new thread explaining this for future ppl like for instance myself that didn't know where the heck the MAP sensor was on our Z's lmao.
you usually cannot fix a map by cleaning it but hey why not. also there are two the one in the manifold circled in yellow and one attached to the brake booster line. side note the are 150 each from the dealer and are two different types of sensor.
On a related note: Are you out of warranty? That should be covered under drivetrain.
Ok it has to be an issue with the manifold map sensor. The one for the brake booster would throw p0555

Yea I'm out of warranty 68k miles(i think if not ill check at the dealer tomorrow), and yes its the one that's attached to the intake manifold. I sprayed it and so far the CEL light hasn't come back on but I scanned for codes on my PLX KIWI and it says that code P0106 is a permanent code. Also I was looking and one of the gauges it has on my KIWI for the MAP and when I WOT it its at a 95-97 Kpa and i was data logging it when i reseted the ECU and i drove it for a good 15 miles and no CEL. don't know if I'm supplying enough onfo but if worse case scenario ill have to buy a new one.

its not that hard to change out. maybe try seafoaming the car?

Did u check the connection on the plug? Also dont worry about locking it up....its combustable lol. Make sure you have 2 people for the operation. One to hold the revs at 3k and one for sipping the juice lol.
you CAN lock a motor on seafoam just pour slowly don't let the can start glugging away a steady slow stream down the funnel does the trick.
Ok ill take up on the challenge I'm just gonna have to continue watching vids so I can get it right the first time.
Lmao that's sooo simple I was thinking of making a syphon looking thing connecting to the brake booster and another line into the bottle of seafoam, well it gets the job done. Thanks guys lets hope this works and even then if it doesn't it'll clean the heck out of it. Should I do all Three ways? Oil, Gas and break booster? Or just Gas and brake booster?
i'd personally just do it through the brake booster. For the most part the fuel line should be good since you did it before...but I dunno....
I got this code today and erased it. It's maybe the third time in 3 years I've gotten it. Seems to happen when it's really hot outside and car has been driven a lot. Could we just upgrade the sensor to a GTRs and be fine ? I'm planning on boost down the road.
