Delay in the Engine oil temperature gauge?? Please provide Feedback!

Hi, I just noticed that it takes about 10min of driving before my Engine oil temperature gauge to starts to show some temp values . Meaning it stays down at

Unhappy Delay in the Engine oil temperature gauge?? Please provide Feedback!

Hi,
I just noticed that it takes about 10min of driving before my Engine oil temperature gauge to starts to show some temp values. Meaning it stays down at the lower point for about 10min before going up gradualy.

That seams strange as my Engine Temperature Gauge has been hot (at normal level) for about 8-10min already...

Could one of you check if it also takes time on your 370Z? I would appreciate that! Thanks in advance!

It takes longer to heat the oil than it does the water. Perfectly normal.....Relax!

Yes, normal. What you're calling "engine temperature gauge" is really coolant temperature, which will be different than the oil temperature.

Ok! I guess recently adding two bottles of oil made the delay even more noticeable! Thanks for the feedback.

Why did you add two bottles of oil? Was the oil level really low by two quarts?

Well, yes. I don't know if it's my driving style, (I am not saying that I push very hard all the time, it's just that I rev a lot, even at low speeds).

In my 350z, it was the same case. I need to add about one bottle of oil every month. I did question this at the dealership for my 350z and they tested my car and said it was within normal specs. I assume it's the same for the 370z.

When the oil level hits the lower limit on the gauge, you can easly add two bottle to bring it back at the top limit level. (confirmed today by checking)

Yea the water gauge is worthless as it is on almost all cars. Usually by the time it moves its already too late.

Also I highly doubt that the recommended fill range spans 2 quarts in a car that only take ~6 quarts to begin with.

The gap from the low point to full point on the dipstick is 1 quart. 2 quarts is extremely low.

I went from the lower acceptable limit of the Dipstick to the Top acceptable limit of the Dipstick with 2 bottles of 1L (1L = 0.22Gal).

Was the same in the 350Z.

I think there is nothing abnormal with that!

You're losing oil in a brand new car?? No that's not right at all. I mean unless you are driving it at Talledega. You shouldn't have to add any oil at all between changes. Maybe an ounce or two if you want to be completely anal. No way should a new car go through 2 qts unless you have a major malfunction. I'm no mechanic but this just seems insane to me.

Looks like I am not the only one burning oil at about 1 quart/2000km or about 1500Miles

Z Owners, check your oil, post mileage and how far "down" it is...
