If you have an Auto, you can't put the lower gears in because Nissan decide to use a wacky pumpkin scheme instead of going with a typical carrier split that most other manufactures use.

All you have to do is change the flange. Yes you will need to ensure you put proper pre-load on the bearings, but it's not that big of a deal, especially if you are changing the differential (inside part). it would be a good idea to freshen it up with new bearings anyway, so as stated earlier, the pinion drive flange difference is not a problem, just swap it with the one you have.

It is when most guys expect to just bolt it on, swapping the flange requires a new crush sleeve which means setting the pinion preload and most guys doing this swap dont want to mess with setting the pinion too loose or tight and burning up the bearings and gears. And the layout on the inside of an automatic pumpkin is the exact same as the manual pumpkin just some stuff is shifted a little and i believe the id of the ring gear is a little smaller.

True, but I was answering in the question in the aspect that you could use the pumpkin, but yes it would not be a direct swap

Of course it looks the same inside, but when setting up gears, those .001's " make a big differnce in longevity & noise/whine (or lack there of). I don't see you installing 4:08's in an auto pumpkin with out grinding the gears to make them set up correctly. $.02 YMMV

It's wacky, because they don't use carrier splits like the majority of differnetal manufactures do

Hi,

Lot of people, with 7AT 370z, change the final drive (9,97% --> 47/14 to 48/13) … I am interesting but …
The 7 automatic 370z gearbox have "downshift rev matching" - DRM , it permit synchro between engine and gear box during downshift.

Does pumpkin is from a 370z, 350z, manual transmission... ?
on the pumpkin, there are 2 sensors for ABS and speed.
on 350z there are 46 teeth for ABS.
on 370z there are 48 teeth for ABS.
I don't know if thoots number needed, and is respect for 370z ABS.
the only problem can come from final drive (9,97% --> 47/14 to 48/13).

Does "downshift rev matching" function change or run or not?
any problem, impact or not ?
all is ok to 7500 rpm for change gear?
do you make ecu reflash for solve "downshift rev matching" problem ?
at how many prm, what RPM value it not run?
what happen?
any gear box problem ?
Else, all is ok..

Thanks
Best regards
Xavier

Q: Does pumpkin is from a 370z, 350z, manual transmission... ?

A: Yes Either 350/ 370 Manual diff will work, but only the 370 have the 3.69, I believe 350 = 3.55 gears

Q: on the pumpkin, there are 2 sensors for ABS and speed.
on 350z there are 46 teeth for ABS.
on 370z there are 48 teeth for ABS.

A: I would get the 370 axles as the computer is set up to read the tone rings already.

Q: Does "downshift rev matching" function change or run or not?
any problem, impact or not ?

A: No impact, continues to work. You maybe able to reset your ECU to get Cruise control to work again, I was.

I swapped a pumpkin from a 13' Sport 3.69 to an 11' base touring 3.36 & everything worked great....except the cruise would not allow you to go above 3k in 7th gear.
Unsure your mods; but be prepared to roast some tires

No need to drill them out, just get the right bolts. Mine had theaded axles, but the one I changed out had not threaded axels. Nuts & bolts solved the issue.
