Cusco has jumped the gun and is busily developing parts for Nissan's recently announced Fairlady Z Z34 / 370Z. Today, they've formally announced no less than FOUR LSD offerings for the car (Type-RS, Type-MZ, Hybrid Diff and Pro Adjust). For the 6 Speed Manual Transmission Car, the Type-RS (1&2WAY and 1.5&2WAY) carries the Product Number: LSD 251 **** and retails at 132,300 Yen (including tax). The Type-MZ (1&2WAY and 1.5&2WAY) carries the Product Number: LSD 251 **** and retails at 130,200. The Pro Adjust model carries the Product Number: LSD 251 * and retails at 165,900 Yen. For the 7 Speed Automatic Transmission car, the Type-RS (1&2WAY and 1.5&2WAY) model carries the Product Number: LSD 252 **** and retails at 132,300 Yen. The Type-MZ (1&2WAY and 1.5&2WAY) carries the Product Number: LSD 252 **** and retails at 130,200 Yen. The Hybrid Diff (Product Number: HBD 252 A) retails at 126,000 Yen.

Nice. For the typical driver, the type-RS is the one to have as it's better suited for the street.

I'm also looking forward to the Quaife LSD for the 370Z.

Hopefully OS Giken has diffs on the way as well.

Sweet!

zman1910 12-17-2008 11:03 PM

Are these viscous or clutch type LSD's?

Clutch type, with LOTS of friction disks.

Check this out, it's from the English Cusco site, good breakdown of the RS and MZ type LSD:

Aftermarket diffs will always be clutch or gear type.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's the difference?

Limited slip differential - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Didn't want to paste the entire thing...

Very confusing. No description of the Hybrid Diff either. I'm guessing a 1.5way RS would be the most desirable for street use/abuse. At least until I hear different.

M.Bonanni 01-21-2009 12:32 PM

For street/mild track use I personally prefer a helical type like the ones from Quaife because they don't chatter and lurch like clutch type LSDs do, although the traditional 1.5 way clutch type is still king of the road course.

RCZ 01-21-2009 10:09 PM

Quaife for me....

TerribleONE 01-22-2009 02:31 AM

cant wait to hear some reviews on these... the vicious LSD on the G37 is a bit weak..

oops.. :o

GT Motoring 01-23-2009 10:26 AM

We handle cusco parts here at GT Motoring, so i contacted them about the 370Z differentials the other day. They are the same unit as sold for the 350Z. They are also currently guessing that the base model car will require some of the LSD model car parts to let the LSD install properly. They have not yet test fit in the USA though.
