I got my Z back from the Dealer with the new Short Block. $6300.00 for parts/repairs good thing its under warranty. First off my car sounds so much better. Has a nice deep growl to it and the tick is gone. Now I have to go through the 1200 mile break in again and keep my eyes on the oil. I know it will consume a little oil during break in but should not consume any after 5000 miles or 2nd oil change. I will post back once I have a few thousand miles on it. Got to say I really missed my 370z makes me appreciate it even more now that I am driving it again. And like I said it sounds so much better big howling growl at 3500rpm, music to my ears!

UPDATE:
I have 730 miles on the new Short Block so far so good. I have been checking my oil and it hasn't consumed any oil, still at the top of the dip stick. The oil color looks good too. With the old (Faulty) Short Block my (Ester) oil would turn dark very quick that is no longer happening. I can't wait to get this sucker to 1200 miles so I can change the oil and rip into it again. I miss hitting 7500rpms, puts a smile on my face!

That means your consumption is due to a head related problem. Bring it back and get a full long block.

I have just noticed my 1st signs of OC at 19k. I use Motul 300v 5W-40 due to how hot the oil temps get when you drive it hard and I was just below the L mark on the dipstick at oil change today. Taking her back in 1k to begin OC testing. Here we go again, went thru this with my 03 G35, but not until around 60k.

Mine has stopped and apparently I was losing oil bc my oil filter wasn't tight enough. So I really tightened it up and so far so good.

Wow, you didnt have any oil pools in your garage or parking space? I would think that if that were the issue you would have noticed it or the dealer would have noticed it when they took the under cover off to change your oil. Just wondering...

Glad that I found this thread. I changed my oil today and I notice I lost almost 2qts of oil. My last oil change was in October 2010, today is Marh 13, 2011. Yes a lot of months but in Oct I had 16k today I have 19k. So i really used 3k in 5 months. Also I use the car maybe twice every other week. Sometimes 2 weeks without driving it. I read some of u took the car to dealer and they replace the block :O I hope I read wrong.
Any suggestions? I will call the dealer anyways tomorrow but I want to hear from people that really drives a Z not a tech that read it on a book.

Picked my car Friday after having the short block replaced. Haven't had a chance to drive it except for the short ride home. While they had it apart, I had a JWT light weight fly wheel, Z1 25 row oil cooler, and Eibach sways installed. The one thing I noticed was the low oil temps so the cooler is worth the investment and the engine spools up much faster due I would think to the fly wheel and it handles like a gokart now. I will be taking it out tomorrow for a good run, lets see how it goes.

Just because you get paid 8 hours doesn't mean the dealership didn't bill 12 hours for your labor.
