Whats the best Short Throw Shifter for the 370z?

Is the "Nismo" shifter standard in the Nismo 370Z? If so I will have to go test drive one.

I won't comment on either of the other brands, as I have no direct experience with them. I have sold the B&M before to customers, and they had the same complaints about the noise and notchiness. For that reason, we prefer not to sell the B&M unless the customer specifically requests it (some still do). The NISMO on the other hand, has not given us any issues whatsoever, and we have a bunch of 370Z customers using them since earlier in the year

I'm 3 days in on my B&M short shifter and think it may be the best <$200 I ever spent. I found the OEM shifter to be a bit sloppy and slow. I also found it too tall for my tastes. The B&M is precise and short and the OEM knob sits at the perfect height on it.

On day one it was a little notchy and required more effort to engage than I would have liked, but I assumed it would settle in. Now, about 150 miles later, it's working in nicely and the notchiness is leaving. I figure another couple hundred miles and we'll be perfect. There is a noticeable notch to engage 6th, which is fine, because there's no need to speed shift into overdrive anyway.

I also appreciate the aluminum construction throughout (the base of the OEM was plastic and the lever itself was clumsy steel).

I really love this shifter. It engages much more crisply than OEM and trains the user to use it right, rewarding him with very fine gear changes available fast.

I have never heard of breaking in a short shifter!?! But hey if its true good deal. I want one but I need to test someone elses out first. Maybe one day I could test out Dreamers ss. I have loved having a ss on my past cars.

I have the B&M shifter and my only complaint is that it sometimes rattles around the 5-6K rpm range when at WOT.

I also have a Nismo knob, not the OEM.

Well, obviously it's "breaking in" very quickly. Maybe something just needed to loosen up a little right after the install. Or, maybe I just got used to it.

One other note -- The B&M is noticeably better isolated than the OEM shifter and vibrates much less under acceleration. There's still enough vibration there to feel the car working, but it's much less alarming. Coupled with the exhaust note from the GReddy, I've tackled the "N" and "V" parts of the NVH problem. And, for the life of me, I'm not sure what the naysayers are talking about with the "H" part of that equation.

JB -- if I see you out at a meet or drive around town in the near future, perhaps we can trade cars for an hour or so and you can test out my shifter.

Anyone heard of KGS Engineering?

KGS Racing - 2009-2010 Nissan 370Z Short Shifter - At KGS Engineering

$75

You usually get what you pay for but I can't imagine a short throw shifter taking an enermous amount of engineering to get right?

that's the same unit (based on pics) that the manufacturer tried to offer us to distribute

needless to say we don't sell it, and don't use it, as it paled in comparison to the other units out there IMHO. It was noisier, and difficult to line up the mounting holes, which on this car if you get that wrong, you're locked out of at least 1 gear (usually 5th)

maybe i am just too rough on cars, but back in the Honda days i broke plenty of cheapy aluminum as well as the "better" DC Sports ones. Also snapped off one of the aluminum B&M shifters on a MKIV Supra. I usually don't like a short throw in most cars anyway, but if i do i stick w/ the steel construction.

didnt have the patience to read through all this, but has anyone heard about Rogue? i've heard that their SS's were badass on the 350s, they make one for the 370 I hear.
