Default 0w40 Mobil 1

I hate to be the one to start another oil thread but I've read several and they all seem to lead to Oil disputes (Blah!) I've read also that 0w40 gives very good feedback on the uao and its what they use to refill Gtr as of what I've read here and from the bottle itself. My question is perfomance difference since I've used 10w30 and my oil temps on 80 degree weather (mornings) goes just up to about 180and during afternoon its about 200-210 if I spirit drive highest tops it goes 220 due to my 34R cooler. Also how many qts of 0w40 do I put since I got the 34R? When I installed it(previous oil change prior to this one) I put the OEM amount which was 5qts and 1/4.

What's wrong with just using the weight called for by Nissan? Get a good full synthetic in the appropriate weight and you'll be fine.

You will most likely only be changing 5 qts or so with every oil change since the oil cooler and lines stay full when you drain the oil pan.

I just switched this past Sat to the M1 0w 40. I have all of 70 miles or so on it but noticed the motor sounds smoother "less valve chatter" I had M1 5w 30 for 3000 miles before switching.

I have 7000 miles on the car and change it out at 3000.

The "smoothing out" may also have something to do with the fact that your motor is still breaking itself in to some degree. 7k miles is still new.

Nothing against the weight I'm actually in a tough spot between 5w30 and 0w40 but I keep seeing ppl getting really good results, by that I mean they feel more content from switching either 5w30 or 10w30 to 0w40. My statement is just based of what I've read here on the forums I just wanted some feedback from Users that's all and btw thx so all I need to buy is just a regular 5qt jug and I'm good thx

Exactly, Nissan has a lot smarter engineers than on our forums. I would stick to what is called out.

Agreed but, definitely a noticable change before and after the oil change.

This is the reason why I'm in a debate between 5w30...I mean that's the recommended and at first this was my option but then I kept reading about 0w40 and it catched my eye on it. But ok say I decide to go 5w30 which seems logical since I am at 60k miles which would I get Mobil 1 or go for Catrol edge? Or just pretty much stick to Mobil 1? Just want to be pointed in the right direction that's all

Yeah, going from a 30wt to a 40wt will quiet things down some since it's thicker.

In all likelihood you would never know the difference. If you're really curious, go over to Bob is the oil guy and read. They'll learn ya.

Yeah, you may get a lot disagreeing with using this since it's not the recommended oil. My opinion is, try it and have the oil analysed afterwards. Having an open mind may lead to unintended consequences.

On the other hand.... you may crater that valve-train.

Before you change to the new weight, get an analysis done of the oil you're taking out. That way you'll know if anything changes. One data point is useless.

Since you live in TX, I would go 5-10 as first choice, than 0-40 & 10-30 as last. I would never use 10-30 in colder states or winter because Z's are new modern cars & starting them with heavy "10"-30 oil is not the best idea.
