My first service is around the corner and I've put in 3k km on her, I got 5 free oil changes from the dealer. My whole family uses Castrol Edge

(Castrol Edge Titanium) My first service is around the corner and I've put in 3k km on her, I got 5 free oil changes from the dealer. My whole family uses Castrol Edge Titanium so I think I'm going with that. My friends says since I get free oil changes, just use up whatever the dealer gives me first + its bad to put in synthetic oil this early. Is this true?
