Default Clutch Slave Cylinder

Alright guys I need some recomendations. I traveled apporx. 120 mile for a business trip and when I arrived my Slave Master Cylinder died on me... pedal to the floor. I had the car towed (took nearly 2 hours to get my car out of a downtown parking garage) to a local dealership and they informed my that my fluid was low and there "may" small leak in the cylinder, however they are not certain as they didnt take the transmission apart. They claim it to be a small leak as they refilled the fluids and drove the car around with no leaking and no issues. There recomendation was to replace the cylider at almost $1,300. Of course the first thing i asked was is the part under warranty... 27 days past my 3 year, 36,000 mile. He said i could all Nissan USA and there is about a 50/50 chance that they would cover based on his experience. Now I have two questions:

1) I want to bring my car back home and pursue talking to Nissan, would you advise for or against driving it back 120 miles if there is only a small leak?
2) Does anyone have experience with requesting something to cover when the warranty has experiered?

I would hate to have to drive my car like that, but if that's what you have to do, then you have to do it.

There are people on the forum who have had their CSC (concentric slave cylinder) replaced under the power train warranty (5 yr/60K mi). There are also people who have gotten raped by a dealer who said it wasn't covered (over $1K every time). I don't understand how its possible to justify that part of the clutch system is NOT covered under the power train warranty. I would find a dealer that will cover it under warranty - do some searching and find some relevant threads here on the forum to show them if you have to.

Take it to the dealer.
Here is the link that talks about it all.
CSC failure covered under warranty?

This is from MrAurora that posted this:

Update for those interested or experiancing this same issue:

I called Nissan consumer affairs (the number listed in the warranty booklet) and had them pull up the book and read the powertrain section on the phone with me. We had same book which was a pleasant surprise ! Was expecting an different version with exclusions in it but i digress... The powertrain section says "all internal parts except those listed in the not covered section" under transmission coverage. He read the not covered section aloud and it says NOTHING about excluding the slave and that it's covered. He gave me a case number and contact info. I then called the dealer and the gods were kind to me. The Bob-inator was on vacation and i was transferred to a woman who knew her stuff. To make a long story short, she thinks its in the nissan computer wrong because the slave in our cars is not dedicated, its integrated with the throwout bearing and therefor part of the powertrain and should be covered. So as of right now i am scheduled to have the work done under the powertrain warranty on thursday.

If you’re out of the 36k or 3 year warranty you should be fine. Its covered under the power train warranty which is 5 years or 60k like JARblue said (hopefully your under that).

I have no idea why a dealer would not replace it under warranty. Warranty costs always get shuffled to the manufacturer(Nissan). What this means is that the dealer doesn't pay for the part AND gets to bill Nissan time for the labor to install it. It's a win win situation and if a dealer is not honoring a warranty they are doing something very shady and you should let Nissan know. (they are probably billing Nissan for sh1t they never fixed and man hours they never performed).

Home | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), file a complaint about the failed CSC. There are too few complaints filed!

So the plan is to bump every thread about the CSC regardless of when the last post was?

Mine just died for the second time. Funny thing is I'm not low on fluid and it's been acting weird for a little while now but last night it finally lost all pressure had to float the gears to get to my friends house I couldn't even make it to my own home... Terrible. So I have been getting a weird pedal feel for a little while now sometimes I would have free play then other times I wouldn't if I felt it get soft a quick run over 100 would stiffen up the clutch pedal and that to me is very strange. Another thing my clutch pedal has been getting stuck half way on hard shifts and causing it to slip my guess is the csc has been sticking but the whole losing pressure and regaining it has been a strange to say the least. Anyway imma try and bleed it today and take it to Nissan soon. Last time they just bled it with "gtr" fluid. I'm 500 miles still in power train lol
