Brand new car - oil question
Hey guys got a quick question,
Just got my car today finally, I ordered it back in March. The dealer said it comes with oil in it from the factory in japan. When I drove it around and back to my house, i kinda smelled a burning smell. I checked the oil and I see it on the dipstick. However it is very thin and very clear. Is this how the oil from nissan is, really thin and clear? Just dont wanna blow up my engine because of no oil. I have changed oil on other cars before and tested the dipstick, this is just a little different. sorry for the newb question, dont wanna ruin a good thing haha Rob |
Everything is fine. New cars are going to have that oil burn for a while.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Just double checkin to make sure, thanks man. Rob |
Totally fine. Expect a lot of different things like burn plastic/rubber smell, slight smoke, etc during your break in period. I smelled burned plastic till 1500 miles!
Congrats on the car. Any pics? :pics: |
thanks AK, I love knowing that my brand new car with 11 miles on it will have a nice burning smell, with the site of hardly any oil!:icon18:
Yes, I will have pics and a new avatar soon. I got to the dealership at 5, and didnt get out of their till 8! I ordered back in March, finally got this thing and Im really excited. Rob |

I figured it was due to the premium gas (that alone does also smell different!) Anyhow, it's not so much now. Tires grip a WHOLE lot better now too...lol |
I smelled raw eggs oh crap that was me!
:rofl2: |
