Help, the Z won't start
Ok, drove about 4hrs to Ocean City Md. today. The Z ran great. Pulled into the camp ground where my camper is at. Shut the Z off. Set up the camper. Started the Z up to move it, and shut it off with no problems. Go to restart the Z about 15 minutes later. The engine cranks over, tries to start, spudders and dies. Check for codes with UpRev. No codes. Thinking it may be vapor locked, now thinking the fuel pump has died. When I pulled into the camp ground. The gas gauge was showing 3 dots. got the camper next to me to run me to the gas station. Got another 4 gallons of gas to put into the gas. Had 6 dots showing. Tried starting it. Same thing. Left the Z sit for 2 hrs. Tried starting it. It does even spudder now. and the gas gauge shows no dots. Help!

Doesn't sound like it, but just to check our bases, steering lock?
|
No. After hitting the start button. It would try and start. The engine would fire and stumble for awhile, then die.

Bad fuel sender? Here is a tip push ignition twice....if you dont hear the whine of the pumps....then there is your prob.

When I change maps from anti-theft to my tune setting I hear it prime everytime. what does the voltage read on your car? Maybe the battery is goin?

I just re read and saw that there is no dots after your had 6. If your not smelling gas then I wonder where it went.

It appears that the fuel level sensor and the fuel pump are both acting up. Double check the pump and sensor wiring, starting at the pump/sensor and working your way toward the front of the car. Could be a bad pump/sensor - check pressure at the engine fuel rail.

It happens to me as well at least once a week. It'll rev to idle, then drop down to 0 and die. Press down on the gas pedal a bit as it revs up on start.

Maybe fuel filter?

I'm at a campground with limited tools on hand. :( I put another 4 gallons of gas in it. Now the fuel gauge shows 1 dot above 1/2 tank. I got the covers off of the fuel tank on the right side. I can hear phunk's fuel pump prime, but the stock fuel pump is quite. My thinking is that the stock fuel pump went roses up. Tomorrow, I,m renting a U-haul truck and trailer to get the Z home on Tuesday. Then I will have all of my tools to use.

Sounds like Low fuel pressure. Call nissan1, if you have extended warranty they help with towing.

Up-date. Got it fixed. Self-inflicted problem. :shakes head: When I installed phunks road race fuel pump. On one of the fuel hoses. I put the hose clamp too low on the fitting. This allowed the hose to slip off of the fitting over a period of time. :shakes head: I would like to thank phunk for all of his help in getting this straighten out. :tiphat:
