Jun Camshafts. Anyone have REAL dyno sheets to back it up?
Guys, I don't want to reread 165 pages of info on NavyBoy and the guy in Germany and anyone else.
Does anyone have DEFINITE power gain dynos on normal pump gas? Not the 100 octane they use? Also, does anyone know if you can install them without a tune? Thanks you guys very much in advance!

I'll try to sum up everything that I've read.
The JUN car's dyno shows gains with an increased compression ratio and built bottom end. Germany's car, I have not seen anything other than a start up video but do know alot went into it other than cams. Navyboy is still in Guam (I think) and no dyno here but he built his head. So as far as gains go with just cams. None exist. It's labor extensive just to get to the cams that you might as well do everything you can afford while you have it open. Cams with no tune. Doubt there is any. You would need to tune just to get it to idle right and not sputter in my best guess. To stay N/A even going the CAM route seems like more $$$$ to HP ratio. Different strokes for different folks though.

That's why I want to install everything I can. Headers. Cams (if viable, which it looks like it isn't)

If the motor is out already, I'd spring for the silicone Z1 heater hoses. They'll last a lot longer than OEM, and swapping them out with the motor in looks like a massive PITA.

How far down this rabbit hole do you plan to go? It's easy to justify a lot of stuff if the motor is coming out. Hoses, radiator, thermostat, HD flex plate, motor mounts, tranny mount, and so on.

At this moment, headers, hoses, fluids... I don't know what else would be financially viable or worth it

Z1 makes the poly mounts. The tranny cooler is a good idea. I'm just going down the list of things that are going to be removed and replaced when the motor comes out. I guess you could go ahead and throw in new OEM plugs to save youself the effort down the line. Maybe have them leave the coolant lines to the throttle bodies disconnected. Other than that, I think you're good to go unless you have plans to build the car up for more power down the line.

I can say this.. We are running an exhaust cam that was developed on / for the DE engine.
There isn't much gain to be had on that end of the spectrum.... Especially bang for the buck. My 2 cents. |

5WHP? 10WHP? 15WHP? Again, my install cost is close to 0 because the motor is already out

Honestly I wouldn't really bother unless you have a way to adjust vvel to take advantage of the aggressive cams. You should go forged internals, maybe even stroke the motor out to 4L using GTMs kit and add 2 34 row oil coolers and a huge radiator.

That's a $20k+ bill from GTM, with a lead time of at least a month. I think that's a little beyond the scope of what he's trying to do here.

I think at this point he'd settle for a car that runs.
