Please help!! Full battery but no ignition
it's almost as if it doesn't think I have the clutch pushed in, because thats exactly the way it acts (radio comes on, screen on left of dash tells me to push clutch, etc.). except my start button and the lights on my start button (ON, ACC, START) do not light up.
any ideas?? feel free to email or PM me if you really think you know what's going on |
Failed steering lock module or bad contacts on one of the clutch switches would be a good place to start.
|
When my steering lock happened, I was getting into my car after getting gas.
I thought this issue was only on 09's I believe some of the electronics were working.. Just wouldn't go into ACC or ON. Pull the fuse - http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...lved-real.html |
The fuse seemed like a good idea, but that only works if your ignition lock is in working order, which I am pretty sure mine is not. Shoot! To the dealership she goes... :(

True, with the lack of ON ACC lights on the start button, it could be steering lock. Let's hope not....
|
the guy at the dealership told me there's a recall on the steering lock module, and they're gonna replace it for free. I really hope that's what the issue is, cuz it kinda sounded like they're just assuming that's the issue.

If the Ignition button switch was not lighting up, DEpointfive0 is right, it's most likely the steering lock.
|
it was the clutch switch :tiphat:
|
Dealer fix or replace it or did you repair it yourself?
|
dealer fix. but now I'm dealing with some sort of loss of power issue. she doesn't have the same zip she did a week ago and my MPG is in the sh**ter. dammit!
|
it seemed to happen right after I got my oil changed at jiffy lube on saturday... thoughts? anybody?
|
If the weather is a lot hotter than you have experienced driving the car in before, observe your oil temps. If you didn't already, know that the 370z "detunes" with high oil temps. I am not sure how slow is slow for you, but before my oil cooler (and eventually turbos) I noticed a pretty significant power loss around 220 degree oil temp that seemed to get worse the hotter the oil was from there.

To make sure that the clutch switches are properly installed check if your cruise control works. While the switch they would have replaced would have been the start switch that checks for the clutch being full down... There is another switch at the top that maybe they messed with. The top switch is what engages SMode in cars that have it, and also shuts of cruise control when you push the peddle down. If that switch isn't making correct contact, s mode will work normal (for several days until it eventually notices and SMode warning comes on the multi gauge and shuts off until the switch is pressed/reset), but cruise control will never work because it thinks the clutch is partly down.
Its highly unlikely that the car removes power when the clutch is down, but god knows with all the random stuff Nissan programmed in this thing. I am just reaching into the darkness for random ideas related to the area of the car that was last worked on. |
