What does Stalling Exactly Do

lol take it easy on the guy, we all started somewhere. I know my dad's pride was crushed during the time he taught me to drive my first manual. It took me three weeks to finally get it down, thinking back, the fear of shame and disappointing my pop was much more pressure than stalling. Been driving manual cars many years now and I'm still not very confident with the clutch on the Z, it's so damn soft and the catch point is like an inch off the top. Props to you Minsu for sticking to it, but like everyone said in the other thread, you should remove that spring maybe it'll be easier, I know that's the first mod I'd do when I pick up my Z. Keep at it buddy.

I agree. My dad was a total d*ck when I was learning to drive stick. Now I'm way better that he is so he can't really talk sh*t anymore.

Don't worry. I've stalled numerous times when I got my first car. Just drive more and in a few months you should be confident enough to take girls for a ride, if you know what I mean.

What's embarrassing is the random stall ill get every six months or so. Just a momentary loss of left foot coordination.

I learned to drive a manual years ago, but this is the first manual I've owned, needless to say I've had a few stalls. Most embarrassing was probably meeting up with the local z club for a car show, I pull up and forget to turn off the car before letting go of the clutch, FAIL!

if you get stuck on incline again with cars right on your rear and confidence still not 100%, I suggest using parking brake to prevent rolling back. I still use it sometimes on really steep inclines. It just gives that piece of mind that you wont hit anybody behind you especially when threyre really close

yah, just so you guys know, im only kidding around.

the point is, it doesn't really hurt the car as much as it hurts you psychologically.

remember, you drive a sports car, people expect you to be able to handle it. otherwise, they just smirk or giggle at you.

like having a nice suit, but you dont know how to wear it... aka trying too hard.

Minsu, stalling your car thirty times......it's totally wasted! I'll give you $25K for it Glad to hear you're getting much better at it. After awhile you'll just be totally surprised when you stall it.

dude i still stall mine prob once a week and i have been driving stick for over 18 years. You might want to starting off in 2nd gear its much forgiving and won't jerk you around.

Maybe I'm and old guy that's driven sticks since I was 16, but the cars back then didn't even have a hundred hp. Try driving one of those without rolling back on a steep incline. You'll then realize how easy a 370 is to start up an incline, even a steep one. Even using the handbrake with these old cars was no guarantee of rolling back.

I have lived on a lower part of a mountain for the past 20 years, so maybe I'm used to it. But in all honesty, the first week of ownership of the Z, I thought it had hill assist as the car never rolled back an inch. The torque that the Z has, will hold the car in it's place up an incline, if you release the clutch to the beginning part of it's catch point and then release the foot brake.

For you new guys to sticks, release the clutch till you see the rpm's on your tach decline a bit, then release your foot brake and then depress gas smoothly. You will not roll backwards. Otherwise, nothing wrong with using the handbrake.

I remember when I was first learning to drive stick my dad mentioned how there is a "friction point" where when you let the clutch out a certain amount, that the gears will "catch" and start the car moving. It was one of those lightbulb moments and I didn't really stall the car much after having it explained that way.

yea i have the general gist of the damn thingy but like i need to park in my drive way and of course its inclined so not only do i have to go up the damn thing slowly in second but if i dont get as close to my moms car or garage door on my first try im guaranteed a stall there. sigh just stalled before i walked inside to post this post. fml and smh at the same damn time. other than that its been beautiful. now i gotta go to a social event tmr with three asian ladies , this should be interesting ill let you know how it goes
