This all sounds like human error and needing to just get used to the car. It took me a solid week to get everything perfect. But I did have a month of practice driving a manual before I bought the Z.
+1 I think the feel is fine. It just takes some getting used to. I hopped in my buddies Mustang GT and holy hell was that clutch a pain compared to the Z. The Z is touchy and driving it takes some getting used to. Anyone that came from the 350 will know this.

I thought mine was a pain for the first 1-2 weeks. Now I think it's fine. Have shifts as smooth as an Automatic car.

So removing the helper spring helps find the engagement point better?

Hmm $15-20 for an eBay product. Is it reliable? Does it break easily?
