Default VLSD-LSD Upgrade

Hey everyone

So I am looking for some input on which route to go. I do have a sports package model if anyone is wondering . Driving habits if some of you know I take mine to the drag strip and closed roads for racing. I say closed roads I mean it, cop buddies and everything so we don't get in trouble. I have been thinking about this upgrade for a while but just not sure if it is right for me for my driving habits. I see a lot of track guys going this route but obviously I am not taking any turns on my track. Any and all input would be nice guys!

The stock VLSD works fine for the street. I went with a Quaife since I do some track driving and I would get progressively more inside rear wheel spin throughout a session.

I went with a quaife LSD. IMO its great for the track and quiet for the street . You will not have to service the fluid like a clutch LSD. Switching to 4.08 gears is also a big plus as well.

Quaife is a helical design......there is no 1-way, 1.5 way, or 2-way. A Quaife is just a Quaife.....

But anyways, I also went with 4.08 gears and a Quaife.

How was the quaife before you put the gears in? After? I hear 4.08's are a little rough on a DD?

I did the Quaife and gears at the same time so I couldnt really tell you a before and after. I can tell you that both mods are huge. The new LSD really hooks up and I notice a big difference compared to the factory. Also, the gears are going to have you rev higher but I like the fact that whatever gear im in, its ready to go.

I wont track the car till September, but I can tell you that from what I have driven on the streets, its a big difference. I don't think you ll be disappointed

Define rough? At 70 mph with the 6MT, sitting right at 3k RPMS. About 400rpms higher. Depending how long your commute is, I guess it could hurt but my MPG really hasn't dropped much. Still averaging over 20mpg. My trip to work is only about 15 miles and its all highway. I'm happy with them, course it took 2 1/2 months to finally get it right but hopefully your installer will be more competent. The traction with an LSD is just amazing compared to an open diff (I have base model). The acceleration is VERY obvious with the 4.08 gears.

on another note since the 370 uses the breaks to assist the lsd by braking the slipping wheel this actually will bring the "lock" curve on the quaife up since the quaife is a torque multiplier and increasing the free wheels load with the breaks will actually cause the diff to send more power than it normally would to the non spinning wheel.

I had the Quaife installed 2 weeks ago and I love it. Still slipping 2nd but lot better traction than before. With big hp n tq it helped me out a lot. I didn't switch gears I kept it stock.

Now that it has been over a month how are your thoughts on the Quaife?
