Lab tests are apparently pretty good. All I know is that it completely solved that valve train ticking so I'm satisfied.

what oil were you using that you recieved ticking?

Royal Purple 5 W 30 sure isn't cheap either, especially every 3,000 miles.

I don't know if I can go that long... I'm thinking I will do it every 4500 or 5000 miles.

I think RL can handle it, but Ill be doing UOA to be sure! Ill be watching these UOA that are being posted very carefully. My 350 could go 7.5K on Syntec with 3.97 TBN left so Im optimistic for RL performance to exceed that.

AK…..how many miles on your Red Line oil before you do an oil change?

AK, you already answered my question earlier. Every ~7.5K for your oil change!

I usually drive 15,000 miles a year. That's why I was planning on a bi yearly change. I don't track my car therefore I should be fine. I do plan on changing it at 6000 mile this time because car is fairly new.

I don't know if this is just a coincidence or if this is due to the oil change, but I've noticed my oil temps are a little bit cooler. Since my oil change last Thursday night I've driven over 800 miles and have not once had the oil temp reach above 220. The hottest I've seen it so far is about 215-218.

I drove 300 mostly highway miles on Saturday morning through a mix of rolling hills and a mountain pass and the oil temp seemed to settle in right at 215. I went on a spirited mountain drive later in the day and saw only a tick higher.

I seem to remember my temps averaging a little bit over 220 on a sustained highway trip... not sure if this is a result of the oil change or other factors.

I have had nothing but good results. It was a VERY hot day today (90 degrees) and lets just say I was driving spiritedly on some empty roads. My hottest oil temp was 230. I think it gets harder to bring the oil temp up as the car breaks in. At 7000 miles, I think the car is more predictable and runs cooler than when it had 2000 miles.

Did you actualy put the nissan ester oil into the car or did you do a free oil change and the dealer claim they put it in there?
