Is this normal?

I got the car a week ago, she was brand new, even 1/5 throttle seemed to be enough for driving on the streets.

I finished the first tank of gas, refilled her and 2 days later, the car feels...a little slower, as in less responsive. Like I need to step on her more to get her to go.

Is this the car adjusting to my driving habits? (I'm taking it easy during break-in). Or is it me becoming more used to the car and wanting it to go faster?

I'm going to assume the latter, although laggy throttle responsiveness (without a tune) is a common complaint, so keep that in mind.

After break-in, turn off VDC and have some fun and then re-evaluate ;)

I do know about the complaint but when I first got her I didn't feel like there was any lag in throttle response, so its weird that I'm all of a sudden feeling this change.

It's also possible the gas mixture is different (level of ethanol) or something like that. Differences in weather (heat, humidity).

I doubt there's anything suddenly wrong --- oil levels good? A little consumption is normal on break-in as the rings seal.

If all else appears well, I think you just have to wait til after break-in.

I get that feeling when my A/C is on. We have had a couple heat waves here with scorching temps..that is probably it.

dont forget 19 gallons of fuel isnt exactly light. maybe the added weight is throwing off your butt dyno....

i know after a fill up my car feels a little sluggish.

ElVee 07-31-2013 01:35 PM

Did you put in 91+ octane fuel? I've only done 91 (highest I can find reliably) so I don't know if you feel it with lower fuel.

I second the suggestion to turn off VDC....

...but do so in a controlled environment and see how the car changes its behavior. Just speaking from experience. :) Be safe!

:iagree:
This is big, I run my car down to just above 1/4 and fill it up, sooooo slow but need gas to move.

You can always kill power to the ECU (pull one of the battery cables and press on the brake for a few seconds) to reset back to defaults parameters. You'll need to reset the windows and any radio presets you have configured.

couple weeks ago it was roughly 33 deg C. Factor in the humidity, bump it up to 40 deg. we get a crap load of snow here, so we find these temp outrageous hahah.

Sounds like someone can't wait to be out of breaking in period.....enjoy that time to get familiar with how she feels and get ready for the modz!!!! It's hard to get that wanna go faster feeling out of your blood once its found its way in....sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

AC is what kills mine...........I hate the way it runs with the AC on. I turn it off and it is like a whole different car! Out here in Vegas though theres about 3 months you cant even turn it off at night.
