Fan Upgrade
I know a few people have upgraded their fans, a few questions. I have upgraded to a CSF radiator but looking at upgrading the fans now.
-What did you buy? -Was it plug n play or require rewiring? -How was the install?

Vent the hood. Trust me it is very very very good at cooling when teamed with a z1 34 row oil cooler and a csf. I can run the heck out of my z with no issues. You can buy the spal fans and retro fit them into a mishimoto fan shroud. then it has to be wired in with the factory wiring. You have to know what your doing. I think gtm took it further and made it plug and play but they made there fan setup only work with there radiator.

You may want to do some research on the NEW Mishimoto Aluminum Radiator. Click here for engineering report. It's 40mm thick and has 2 rows. I installed this radiator several weeks ago and I'm extremely happy with the quality and performance. I don't have any technical data, however, one thing I noticed is that my oil temps with 25 row cooler usually hovered around 195-220. Now my oil temps pretty much stay a constant 180 - 190. If it has this kind of effect on my oil temps, it must be cooling extremely well. Check out my install pictures here.

I took the plunge with the GTM kit and SPAL fan upgrade. There is so much stuff in front of the radiator now, it's almost needed. Front opening of the Z isn't really large and desert weather isn't kind to cooling either.

A vented hood is in the works, probably by years end at the latest. Need my factory hood for something else, will share later. My idea is if I do the vented hood and can easily upgrade the fans it will be a double bonus, but it is sounding like the fans might be more work than originally thought.

Aero Jacket is currently adding vents to my hood. It's nothing too spectacular, but it's better than nothing all. Plus, it's probably much cheaper than the preferred dry carbon vented hood at the moment.
One thing I wish I did was to ceramic coat the hotside of the turbo... just too much piled up lol.

Not sure if anyone else is interested but after realizing that the nismo radiator cap is rated slightly less than oem (137kpa oem, 130 nismo) I placed an order for the GTR Spec-V oem cap, rated at 180kpa. seems like a good upgrade for anyone pushing their cooling system, especially if you're running more water than coolant.

I wanted to go with GTM radiator with their shroud + SPAL fans but they didnt have the radiator in stock so went with CSF.
However, they do sell shroud with spal fans for stock radiators so I called Mike@GTM and asked him if it fit with CSF radiator, he said if it fit in stock mounts then he dont see why it should not fit. So basicly, I have CSF radiator with GTM shroud + dual 14" SPAL fans for stock mounting radiator.

This is the best thing to do. Value and performance. If you need more than that something is wrong. Course adding a vented hood is a big plus. Don't forget with Uprev you can control the fan %'s in stages.

See this is what pisses me off because I asked those guys more then once if the gtm fan setup will fit the csf and gtm repeatedly told me no no no. That's what drives me about this car stuff sometimes.

If it fits that would be a very good direction to go. We have a guy on here that did his own spal setup with the csf and he's in IRAQ. Said 130 degrees no problem. He had a 34 row oil cooler too.
