No LSD in base model?

I'm just figuring this out, and kinda pissed, but the 2012 base model model doesn't come with an LSD? Lame!

If so, can I buy the OEM LSD (intended for the sport model) and replace mine with it?

Quaife also has the QDF11L for the 350z with the open diff that will work in your rear end with some modification. That would be a much better upgrade than the OEM VLSD.

Just something else you could consider.

Thanks,

Yeah my 09 doesn't have either. Part of sports package.

I am getting my VLSD replaced by a Quaife this week so if anyone wants my old 9200 mile VLSD just pay shipping. You will likely have to buy stub axles from a sport to use this in a base.

Z1 motorsports has a prebuilt package with options on their site, explains everything to you. Go check it out

Open diff (base model) isn't that bad compared to the VLSD. The VLSD is garbage too. Especially when it gets hot. It becomes a open diff.

Funny how Nissan does their marketing. Up here in the GWN, our base model is the touring package which has VLSD. So, all Z's sold in Canada have VLSD. Nissan must think it's complicated for us canucks to choose if more than one model is offered.:shakes head:

Yep, you want a mechanical diff anyways for any sort of real driving. Quaife and OSG both have good options.

Hey man are you sure about that? If so that's cool.

So if us guys with the Canadian models want to upgrade the rear diff then we would need the same upgrade parts as someone with a US sports package?
